The self-titled debut album by the German project Hintergedanken (meaning "Background Thoughts" / "Hidden Motives" in German) is a deep dive into the hypnotic shadow of classic 1970s Krautrock through the prism of contemporary experimental underground rock. Recorded with an emphasis on analog organicity and the continuity of improvisational flow, the album builds slowly evolving, trance-like soundscapes. The record contrasts the music video dynamics of the 2000s with a hypnotic immersion, where minimalist rhythmic loops are gradually undermined by monotonous guitar fuzz and a spatial synthesizer drone.
