Grumbling Fur – Furrier (2011)

Furrier (2011) is the hypnotic debut album by London duo Grumbling Fur, formed by two prominent figures of the British musical avant-garde: Daniel O'Sullivan (Ulver, Sunn O))), Guapo) and Alexander Tucker (Suishou No Douki). Unlike the band's subsequent, more accessible synth-pop works (Glynnaestra, Pretext), this primal opus is steeped in ritualistic, pagan drone folk and twilight neo-psychedelia. Recorded over several days at the renowned Southern Studios, the album is a single, monolithic immersion into trance, where hypnotic krautrock repetitions intertwine with acoustic meditations and psychedelic vocal polyphony.
