Canadian clawhammer banjo master Allison de Groot and Nashville-based experimental multi-instrumentalist Rich Ruth have announced a collaborative self-titled album, scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, via Western Vinyl.
The album showcases a union between traditional music and ambient soundscapes. Allison de Groot, an acclaimed figure in old-time and bluegrass known for her duo with Tatiana Hargreaves, layers unadorned banjo and fiddle melodies over Rich Ruth’s lush synthesizers, vibraphone, radio textures, and field recordings. Through a psychedelic and cinematic lens, the two distinct musical voices transcend genre boundaries, crafting a meditative blend of folk, leftfield electronics, and experimental music.
Tracklist:
1. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - Nervion
2. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - New Intervention
3. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - Bass Crust
4. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - 10-14
5. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - Distance From Then
6. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - Sorgin
7. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - Rocks from the Moon
8. Allison De Groot & Rich Ruth - A Wizard and a Stork
