Canadian clawhammer banjo player Allison de Groot and Nashville multi-instrumentalist Rich Ruth joined forces for a collaborative album on Third Man Records. What began as a production for Allison de Groot's solo record evolved over a year of studio work into a co-written project.
The compositions bridge traditional old-time, folk, ambient, minimalism, and experimental electronics. Clawhammer banjo processed with delay and looping interacts with synthesizer arrangements, complemented by string orchestrations from Patrick M'Gonigle and pedal steel by Spencer Cullum. The duo debuted the project live during a surprise set at the Big Ears Festival.
