Magia Nera – Montecristo (2020)

Montecristo (2020) is the culminating full-length album by the Tuscan band Magia Nera, whose roots date back to the early 1970s. Born in the wake of RPI's first flourishing era, the band disbanded, leaving behind only archival demos, and was reformed decades later by vocalist and flautist Bruno Alozzi. Montecristo embodies the spirit of the classic dark prog movement of the 1970s, drawing on the gothic aesthetics, conceptualism, and vintage theatricality characteristic of the Italian school. The album's concept is inspired by the dark legends, secrets, and dramatic history of the island of Montecristo.
