Swedish alternative project ShitKid, founded by musician Åsa Söderqvist, returns to full activity in 2026 following an extended hiatus and the sudden termination of the project in 2020. Having established a reputation as an unpredictable independent act since her 2016 debut, Söderqvist marks her comeback with an extensive world tour and a series of career-spanning compilation albums.
The compilation The Essential (Vol 2) highlights the slower, more experimental textures of ShitKid's catalog, contrasting with the raw, rock-oriented focus of the first volume. The release coincides with autumn tour dates across the UK, Europe, Japan, and Scandinavia, building on a successful spring run of sold-out performances in London, Berlin, Paris, and Stockholm. Over the years, ShitKid's iconoclastic sound has drawn consistent critical support from major independent outlets such as The FADER, NME, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, KEXP, and NPR.
