The album "Ocean Cage" is a live audio document of the avant-garde theatrical performance "Moyang & Seaman" by the multidisciplinary collective Asiandopeboys, helmed by director Tianzhuo Chen. The musical framework of the release was created by the Balinese duo KADAPAT in collaboration with Indonesian singer and environmental activist Nova Ruth Setyaningtyas. The creators radically reimagine the centuries-old canons of traditional gamelan music, blending the textures of traditional metallic and bamboo instruments with experimental electronics, tonal clusters, and dramatic vocals. The project's concept is deeply rooted in Indonesian folklore, Japanese Noh theater, and an allegorical reflection on the global ecological collapse, delivering a futuristic and unsettling soundscape.
