Ensemble SuperMusique - Musiques Émeraude (2023) [Hi-Res]

Musiques Émeraude is derived from a project created for the 40th anniversary of Productions SuperMusique. The tracks that make up the album are extracted from 8 videos created in tribute to the founders: Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse, and Danielle Palardy Roger. We hear arrangements of some of their compositions created between 1985 and 2010.

Composers Magali Babin, Isaiah Ceccarelli, Lori Freedman, Émilie Girard-Charest, Pierre-Yves Martel, Terri Hron, Vergil Sharkya’, and Scott Thomson have revisited songs or instrumental music played by Wondeur Brass, Les Poules, Justine, and various other groups. They boldly propose 8 new and transformed versions of repertoire pieces. The interpretation of this music involved 40 instrumentalists gravitating around the Ensemble SuperMusique. Grouped in 8 small groups of 3 to 8 instrumentalists, these formations are emblematic of the practice of new and improvised music.
