Taylor Locke and The Roughs – Grain & Grape (2010)

The project was formed in Los Angeles by guitarist Taylor Locke (known for his work with the pop-rock band Rooney) and multi-instrumentalist Chris Price, following two years of collaborative songwriting. The album itself was recorded in just 10 days, with drummer Mikey McCormack and bassist Charlotte Froom (of the band The Like) also joining the studio sessions. The album received glowing reviews from critics for its melodic quality and appeared on several year-end "best of" lists for its genre.

Music critics have often compared the sound of the record to the work of legendary acts such as Badfinger, Jellyfish, and Electric Light Orchestra, as well as to Paul McCartney’s solo material. The music is packed with bright hooks, a vintage vibe, and rich arrangements, featuring the use of cowbells and the harmonica.
