Canadian musician Rich Okaine will release his new instrumental album, Classical Tonto, on November 6, 2026, on Toronto-based label We Are Busy Bodies. The record features electronic interpretations of nine well-known classical works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Satie, and Debussy. Okaine served as the project’s synthesizer player, producer, and arranger, with help from a team that included Gordon Huntley, Jason Tokin, and Noah Mintz. The album was made using the legendary TONTO synthesizer—the world’s largest multitimbral polyphonic analog synthesizer, housed at the National Music Centre in Calgary. The release marks a new chapter in Rich Okaine’s prolific instrumental period, following his ambitious four-season project, Synthetic, which concluded in 2025. Although the specific process of recording the classical works once again involved the team behind his previous project, bringing them to life technically reflects the full complexity of working with the historic TONTO instrument.
