Briar, Daniel Romano - Aeterna Memoria (2026) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Briar, Daniel Romano

Canadian musician and songwriter Daniel Romano releases his new album Briar, the latest chapter in his tireless creative search. The record is built around a symbolic world in which forces exist to protect the spirit from any deprivation of love. Evil, in his conception, is not an independent force but merely a deficiency of Love, the highest principle, identified with the Logos; disorder arises when a person loses harmonic coherence.

The central image is the briar: the Mother Tree that brings forth the soul and wraps it in thorns. The soul’s task is to overcome duality through polarity inversion and reach a higher harmonic state, while the briar guards sacred knowledge that is not amassed but remembered. The album opens with the mantra “Aeterna Memoria Rosae Crucis”: the cross stands for the finite body, the rose for the eternal element at a person’s center.

The music was created through “instant intuition” and silent listening, without deliberation or questions, and is deliberately imperfect and asymmetrical, like the universe itself. The vocal method and harmonies are based on the Seven Egyptian Vowels, sacred tones each corresponding to a divine principle, from Unity and Intuition to Love, Will, and Creativity. Romano sought vocal clarity so that it could be passed on to the listener. It was recorded on an eight-track cassette machine with Royer 121 and Sennheiser 409 microphones, mixed down to a two-track Marantz cassette machine by Romano himself, and mastered by Kristian Montano.

The songs are conceived as “sacrificial” in the original sense of being made sacred, and address the coming Age of Aquarius: a shift from the boundaries and ego-driven values of the Piscean age toward collective consciousness, compassion, and the language of the heavens. The album’s closing idea is that polarities are not opposites but a unified field, and through coherence one can move from separation to union, from ego to soul, from dogma to Gnosis. Its motto is “Per aspera ad astra” (“Through hardship to the stars”).
