Kathy Hamer discovered a lifelong passion for the guitar at summer camp in 1969, after hearing the folk song “Today.” For Kathy Hamer, the instrument became an essential way to make sense of life experiences and express herself artistically. Her talent enabled her to build a musical career that lasted for decades. “Lady Full Of Dreams” is partly an autobiographical reflection on the personal ambitions Kathy Hamer held in the late 1970s. Although her early albums never progressed beyond test pressings, this song conveys her youthful desire to make a lasting mark on music. Session musicians joined the recording, supporting her exploration of hopes and future possibilities. Kathy Hamer later turned to children’s music and began mentoring her own children in the art. This musical tradition continued into the next generation: her granddaughter, Kate Bollinger, began writing songs after receiving a diary as a gift. Now Kate Bollinger carries on the tradition of “Lady Full Of Dreams” as she embarks on her own creative journey.
