The Danish quintet Lowly — Nanna Schannong and Soffie Viemose (vocals), Kasper Staub (synthesizer), Thomas Lund (bass), and Steffen Lundtoft (drums) — is releasing its fourth studio album, Softy, on 30 October via Bella Union. After Keep Up the Good Work (2023), the band chose to return to its roots: the way of working that brought them together more than ten years ago. They gathered in one room with their instruments and developed ideas relying solely on their talent and mutual respect.
The result is a deeply emotional album about parenthood, family, love, and loss. It builds on the dream pop that underpinned the band’s early popularity in the UK and Europe. Softy feels like the most “Lowly” release yet — not only in mood, lyrics, and music, but in the nature of the band itself: over more than a decade, the five have become a single organism of many parts, independent yet interdependent. It is the sound of people who don’t need words to understand one another, which is why the album is seamless, combining the group’s biggest achievements with its most vulnerable moments. Four albums in, it feels like only the beginning.
Tracklist:
1. Lowly - Brave
2. Lowly - Liminal Space
3. Lowly - What Is It For

5. Lowly - Fighter
6. Lowly - Stretch Under Strain
