Luwten - Luwten (2017)

The Dutch Tessa Douwstra and her band Luwten made a fine album with their debut “Luwten”. Playful dream pop, catchy but definitely exciting and sophisticated. The artwork fits very well with the atmosphere that the music creates. One experiences “Luwten” as a little lifted and slightly floating. The sensitivity that was exerted when writing the pieces is reflected in the careful production.

The band describes their music as a much needed walk around the block to clear their minds. Or as a quiet place to study the surroundings and to recognize differences and similarities. Through her songs, Douwstra wants to encourage people to withdraw to see life at their own pace. Nice thoughts that reflect the expression of the music very appropriately. Both the compositions and the sounds were developed with meticulous precision. This struggle for the right tone or the right measure is still noticeable. Deep emotions that have sought a way to the surface flow into the music.
