Ziemba - True Romantic (2020)

True Romantic is the third full length album in Ziemba's prolific catalogue. A collection of all that delights and terrifies about feelings of love, True Romantic is the artist (Ziemba vocalist/songwriter Rene Kladzyk) at her most pop as well as her most confessional. "I must be a true romantic, I didn't give up," she sings on the album's title track. Ziemba is known for her remarkable live performances. Previous album tours have featured choreographed dancers as well as song-specific scents, made of essential oils and sold at the merch table. Fans of Angelo Badalamenti's ethereal Twin Peaks soundtrack will surely feel at home in True Romantic's soundscapes, produced by Ziemba with additional co-production and mixing from Washington, DC's Don Godwin at Tonal Park Studio. The fantastical highs and lows of desire, attraction and devotion lend themselves well to Kladzyk's songcrafting on True Romantic, which the artist has described as a collection of "overblown love songs." All songs written by Ziemba with the exception of her serene cover of the timeless melody "Brazil." Kladzyk's multifaceted work has been showcased in venues including MoMA Ps1, Pioneer Works, National Sawdust, and toured internationally. Her most recent full length album, ARDIS, functioned as a series of portals into a sci-fi adventure and parallel world, and featured three fragrances, costumes, sets, and full choir. Her writing has been published in outlets including Teen Vogue, i-D, The Creative Independent, and more. She has held artistic residencies with Pioneer Works, Kickstarter, Varda, and Guerilla Science.
