Arlen Roth - Hot Pickups (1980)

Hot Pickups is the third studio album by virtuoso American guitarist, author, and music educator Arlen Roth, released in 1980 by Rounder Records (in the UK and Europe by Sonet).
The album's title has a double meaning: on the one hand, it refers to "hot" guitar pickups, which provide a powerful, piercing tone, and on the other, it refers to the instrument's upbeat, dynamic road trip vibe. The album was recorded at Workshoppe Recording Studios in New York City from July 1979 to February 1980, and mastered by legendary engineer Bob Ludwig. The album showcases Roth's incredible playing technique (on both electric and slide guitar), combining his original compositions with masterful covers of classic R&B and soul hits.
