Misaki’s Amp is a project born of a chance meeting. A girl named Misaki Suzuki missed a train and heard a busking musician, Richard Amp, a London guitarist and the founder of the electronic post-rock band Amp (since 1991). That is how the duo came about, and in October 2026 they released their debut album, the seven-track May Your Place Be Always Sunny.
The record is built on a single improvised guitar session recorded in one take. It was later broken down into its essential parts and assembled into songs in a conventional way. Richard Amp recorded and performed the music under the direction of Misaki Suzuki, who sang the vocals. He also added vocals on “Broken Toy”. That thirteen-minute piece uses a field recording of the sounds of a malfunctioning cat toy, while “Kisui-Iki” features the call of a bald eagle recorded in Yellowstone. Richard Amp produced, with Misaki Suzuki assisting. The album is dedicated to all lost friends, furry or not. It is out on Bandcamp, as a digital release and as a handmade CDR in a card sleeve, with an edition on the label Sound in Silence planned.
