Danny Kalb - I'm Gonna Live the Life I Sing About (2009)

I'm Gonna Live the Life I Sing About (2009) is a significant milestone in Danny Kalb's late career, marking his definitive return to the fundamental roots of American acoustic music. The album's title, a nod to the celebrated gospel work of Mahalia Jackson, serves as a personal manifesto for this veteran of the 1960s Greenwich Village folk-blues scene. Having abandoned the sweeping electric psychedelic experiments of The Blues Project, Kalb emerges on this recording as a seasoned blues storyteller. The album is an intimate, intimate collection of traditional blues, gospel, and original songs, recorded in a lively, relaxed studio atmosphere.
