"The Future Left Behind" is a concept studio album by American multi-instrumentalist and composer Leon Alvarado, released on July 30, 2016, via Melodic Revolution Records.
The release is a sci-fi instrumental progressive rock odyssey inspired by the works of Rick Wakeman (particularly "Journey to the Centre of the Earth"), Vangelis, and Yes.
Alvarado wrote all the music and performed keyboards, drums, and sequencing. To realize this large-scale project, he enlisted the help of iconic musicians of the genre:
Rick Wakeman (Yes) performed keyboards and a Moog solo on the second track, "Launch Overture."
Billy Sherwood (Yes, Circa) played lead and rhythm guitar. Johnny Bruhns played 12-string acoustic guitar. Steve Thamer served as narrator (the plot is dissimilar through cinematic navigation).
Andy Jackson, a Grammy nominee and Pink Floyd's in-house engineer who worked on their album The Endless River, was responsible for mixing and final sound.
