At just 16 years of age, pianist and composer Justus Eichhorn delivers a debut album of astonishing and unparalleled maturity with The Source. The social media star, who has captivated nearly half a million followers by sharing his daily musical education, releases his first opus on the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. The Source is a cleverly conceived tribute to his hometown of Weimar. On it, Eichhorn performs historical works by composers closely linked to the cultural hub—ranging from J.S. Bach and Franz Liszt to Felix Mendelssohn, and Paul Hindemith, with whom he builds a musical bridge to Weimar's Bauhaus era.

His personal touch shines through most clearly in his unconventional arrangements and original creations. He transforms Vivaldi's Flautino Concerto in C major, as well as Czerny's study, The School of Velocity, Op. 740 No. 14, into arrangements for upright piano, breathing an almost neoclassical, ambient character into both masterpieces. However, it is through the premier recording of three of his own compositions that the young artist offers the most intimate glimpse into his sonic universe. These pieces are most often born from improvisation and the translation of internal imagery into music. In Silent Fields, he paints a sonic portrait of a windswept wheat field, while the track Intermission serves as a musical bridge filled with unexpected jazz harmonies.

In the streaming era, the classic album format retains a central role for Eichhorn, allowing him to tell coherent musical stories. The Source impressively proves that he is much more than just a rising star. Demonstrating technical brilliance, emotional maturity, and stylistic openness, he transposes Weimar's historical tradition into the present with a youthful lightness, introducing classical music to an entirely new generation.
