Cheri - Love Stew (1983)

A better album than you might guess from the title, and from the girl duo nature of the group -- thanks to nicely indie production by Geraldine Hunt and Peter Dowse, both of whom give the record some rougher edges, even when the tunes are a bit pop-oriented! Cheri are the duo of Amy Roslyn and Roz Hunt (the latter of whom must have some relation to Geraldine, we're guessing!) -- and the style's somewhere between club and contemporary soul, almost in the territory of Vanity 6 or The Mary Jane Girls, but with a little more of an indie dance spirit overall. Neither singer is tremendous, but that also gives the album a bit of charm as well. Titles include "Working Girl", "Small Town Lover", "So Sure", "I Can't Stop The Feeling", "Love Stew", "Hold Back The Night", and "Midnight Blue".
