This box set includes absolutely all of Elvis Presley’s studio master recordings made at the very start of his career — from 1953 to 1958.
What is included in this edition
The collection covers a crucial historical period when Elvis transformed from an ordinary guy into the “King of Rock and Roll” before joining the U.S. Army in 1958. The tracks are distributed across the discs as follows:
• CD 1: The Sun Records Era (1953–1955). This includes the very first personal recordings (acetate discs) that Elvis made at Sam Phillips’ studio using his own money (“My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin”, July 1953). It also contains all the legendary singles recorded for Sun Records, including “That's All Right”.
• CD 2 and CD 3: RCA Studio Masters (1956–1958). A complete collection of recordings made after Presley signed with the major label RCA Victor. These discs feature the major hits that changed the world: “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Hound Dog,” “Don't Be Cruel,” and many others.
• CD 4: Soundtracks and stereo masters. Full recordings for films from the 1950s (such as Jailhouse Rock, King Creole, Loving You). It is noteworthy that the first tracks on the fourth disc are presented in the original true stereo sound (Original Stereo), which was just beginning to emerge in the late 1950s.
