New Sweat is a Raleigh, North Carolina band known for its versatility on stage: from intimate, harmony-rich acoustic folk to full-band grooves and jams that keep crowds moving. Drawing on roots-rock classics alongside their own road-tested original songs, the musicians build their shows around a free-flowing setlist, turning club stages into a lively, almost spontaneous juke-joint experience.
The band's core — Garrett Cummings, Abe Kline, and Taylor Cummings — grew up together on home-grown music in rural Pennsylvania and, arriving in North Carolina by different paths, came together as a trio in Raleigh in the summer of 2007. Doug McCullough joined in May 2012, adding keys and soulful vocal harmonies that rounded out the band's signature sound.
Their debut album, "No Instructions," came out in the winter of 2012, after which the band spent years honing its material on the Raleigh and Durham scenes. The second album, "Machines" — an 11-song record released on August 23, 2019 — fused personal experience with the social-political moment of the time, expanding the band's roots-rock palette.
Nearly two decades into their run together, New Sweat are releasing their most personal record to date, "faultlines," an eight-song set about the line between what breaks and what holds. Recorded with the same road-tested chemistry the band has built onstage over the years, the album arrives August 14, 2026.
