Boogie Down Edits - Boogie Down Edits #22 (2025)

Boogie Down Edits has focused on a wide range of artists in their series such as James Brown, Sade to Kraftwerk and Keith Sweat. For the 22nd edition, the Los Angeles label hones in on one of the most recognisable voices in hip-hop for the last 25 years, Lil Jon. This collection features edits of some of his most memorable works as well as a few favourites sprinkled in. 'Low' was a club smash when released back in 2003. Here, the team turns the track into a stomping house version where the tempo matches the energy of the vocal perfectly. Each track includes an added 'Clubstramental' which focuses more on the music and deducts some verses. 'Hey' has been reinvented and turned into a lively techno cut that has anthem written all over it. Perhaps the biggest hit for the crunk king was 'Yeah', that featured Usher and Ludacris as guest vocals. It feels rejuvenated in this creative edit while 'Lean Back' with Fat Joe, Eminem and Mase, is instantly notable. In these versions, the rhythm sections get highlighted to show their intricacies while the 'Turn Down' version brings the house down. The combination of nostalgia yet familiarness is only equaled by the creativity from Boogie Down Edits. The team makes these memorable songs fresh again.
