The album RUST is a new project by French jazz pianist Amaury Faye, recorded in New Orleans (USA) featuring an all-star quartet. Faye assembled a lineup consisting of jazz legend Herlin Riley on drums, rising tenor sax star Julian Lee, and one of the brightest new talents in American jazz, bassist Amina Scott.
The release is described as a "masterful collision" between Faye’s cinematic compositional style and the organic, burning rhythms of New Orleans. The album captures the city's atmosphere, including "wild dances under the rusted bridges of Tremé," the sound of freight trains rumbling along the Mississippi River, sirens wailing through the 9th Ward, and the city's overall "chaotic and vibrant" energy. The recording took place in March 2025 at Marigny Studios in New Orleans, emphasizing the authenticity of the sound.
