Miriam Netti - Love Is A Necessary Evil (2025)

Miriam Netti interprets a total of twelve pieces with a wide stylistic range - including lesser-known jazz gems such as the title song Love Is A Necessary Evil (M. Fisher/J. Segal) and How Long Has This Been Going On(George Gershwin) as well as classics à la Our Love Is Here to Stay and Someone to Watch Over Me. Moonglowin a lively medium swing version also finds its place on the album.

The recording was made in a live session at Gula Studios in Malmö, accompanied by three outstanding Swedish musicians: Johan Leijonhufvud (guitar), Johnny Aman (double bass) and Jonas Bäckman (drums).

Particular highlights include Miriam Netti's original version of I Don't Worry About A Thing (Mose Allison) in a driving boogaloo style and an atmospheric, slow-paced interpretation of Mr. Blue (Fleetwood), which captures the warmth and charm of the 60s. Another gem is The Answer by Marcos Valle - here Miriam surprises with a specially written Italian text.

Love Is A Necessary Evil is deeply rooted in the jazz of the 50s and 60s and at the same time a modern, independent work that bears Miriam Netti's unmistakable signature.
