The Tolzer Knabenchor 1964 (!) recording of Guillaume Du Fay's mass, 'Si la Face Ay Pale' is nothing short of celestial. Given that much early music was not well understood at that time, the performance is extremely cogent. The lines of polyphony are clear and well defined. The impetus is both masculine and heartfelt. The sound, of course, might be better, but the remastering is very good. If I go to heaven. I want these guys, the Prague Madrigal Singers, and Rene Clemencic providing the soundtrack.
