"The Blue Album" is a seminal work by cult Ghanaian musician Alhaji K. Frimpong, recorded in 1976 and widely regarded as one of the greatest highlife albums ever made. Backed by the legendary Vis-A-Vis band, it blends traditional percussion and horns with early synth experimentation, pushing highlife into bold, avant-garde territory. The album features the iconic anthem “Kyenkyen Bi Adi M’awu” (“Come Back My Love”), deeply embedded in Ghana’s musical history and covered or sampled by artists like Gnarls Barkley and Chronixx. Painstakingly restored and remastered by The Carvery Studio, the 2025 reissue on transparent blue vinyl features faithfully restored original artwork by Wolfe Hall Studio and is pressed on high-quality vinyl by Garcia et Co.
