Fabio Luisi was appointed Chief Conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra in September 2022, and has been Music Director of many European orchestras and frequently appears at major opera houses around the world. This is a live recording of the 2016th subscription concert that opened the 2024-25 season. This is the first time in the nearly 100-year history of the NHK Symphony Orchestra that the first draft version, which Luisi has consistently praised highly, has been used in a performance, and it has created quite a stir. The high level of the orchestra, the melting ensemble, and the powerful sound are captured here in a performance that had the audience cheering loudly.
