Carl Nielsen comes from “the North,” but that does not mean that his music is chilly. You need pressure on the boilers in his music, which gets straight to the point. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fabio Luisi, presents their national composer’s Symphony No. 4. Nielsen saw his symphony as an expression of the eternal will to life. “Music is life, and, like it, inextinguishable” is the motto of the symphony.
