Mark Kroll - Couperin: The Complete Pièces de Clavecin, Vol. 1 (2016)

This new release is the first volume in a projected cycle of Francois Couperin's complete keyboard works, which will eventually include about twelve versions. Special attention is paid to the entirety of this series and attention is paid to the selection of the corresponding historical clarpsichords. French baroque composer, organist and harpsichordist Francois Couperin, he was known to many as Couperin le Grand (Couperin the Great) to distinguish him from other members of his musically talented family. Strongly influenced by the works of Corelli, he combines Italian and French styles in much of his music. Harpsichordist Mark Kroll has long been a strong proponent of Couperins keyboard literature, showing here his knowledge and expertise in this musical interpretation.
