Unearthed from the ABC Jazz vault, this magnificent studio recording by the Richard Maegraith Band is finally being released for the world to enjoy. From the edgy lounge of ‘A Cha Cha for the Moment’ to the open-hearted tenderness of ‘The Inner Man’ and ‘The Comforter’, the wild ride of ‘Leaps of Faith’, the prowling nostalgia of ‘The Greenway’, the delicious surprises of ‘Rhythms a-Changing’ and the gentle caresses of ‘Eden’s Story’, this is an album that travels with you across the landscapes of life.

Now living in Berlin, saxophonist Richard Maegraith holds a Masters in Jazz from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where his thesis ‘A study of tension and release’ explored the work of Cool School legend Warne Marsh, with its focus on the purity and rhythmic subtlety of the melodic line. That musical aesthetic shapes many of the tracks on this album, which was recorded in February 2000 for ABC Jazz’s Jazztrack program. Lost from view for many years, it has recently been rediscovered and ABC Jazz is proud to be able to release it commercially at last.
