The highly versatile pianist and keyboardist Seppo Kantonen returns to the piano trio format, inspired by his new top-tier ensemble and fresh compositions!
Throughout his 40-year career, Kantonen has explored the full spectrum of jazz styles—and far beyond. A highly sought-after musician, he has also worked across an astonishing range of genres, from rock to baroque. Even as a young music student, he aimed to master all styles, always infusing them with his unique touch. The award-winning and distinctive virtuoso has appeared on around 200 albums, collaborating with artists such as Pekka Pohjola, Eero Koivistoinen, and Otto Donner.
In recent years, Kantonen has focused more on composition. His new trio, founded in 2023 with bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Markku Ounaskari, marks his return to the traditional trio format.
