The daughter of well known Hobart Jazz Trumpeter Clem Meehan, Kate was brought up with the sounds of Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald bouncing around the lounge room. The sound of standards is in clear evidence on this disc, and well-executed versions are the order of the day. At times, the spirit of Julie London invades and a smoky, after hours feeling comes to the fore. Kate can really "mellow-down" and get a growl going too.
