Ricard Ros explores the possibilities of the Catalan bagpipe sac de gemecs in his music under the pseudonym ROS. He combines traditional melodies with electronics, synthesizers and singing. In his new album, he also collaborates with singer Joana Darke, combining voice, sac de gemecs and electronics. However, while ROS tries to utilize these elements, he always seems restrained and risk-averse. Despite this, the album contains interesting tracks such as “La Presó de Lleida” with its interweaving of voice and instruments, “Foc Fosc” with its rhythmic mood and “Flama” with a more melodic sound. Overall, ROS doesn't quite fulfill all the possibilities promised by his experiments and fails to create his own unique universe.
