Multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser, and poet, Titi Robin plays the guitar, bouzouq, and ‘oud, and is the exclusive author of his many projects, often blending literature and music. His work is recorded in Europe, India, Turkey, and Morocco, drawing from European, Gypsy, and Oriental influences. Known as a "travelling musician," his music reflects a quest for harmony across cultures. Influenced by flamenco cantaor Camarón de la Isla and Iraqi ‘oud master Munir Bashir, Titi Robin has performed globally, from the Hollywood Bowl to the Tata Theater in Mumbai. He has collaborated with artists like Rajasthani dancer Gulabi Sapera and qawwali singer Faiz Ali Faiz.
His new album, Quatuor Le Sable et l’Écume, inspired by cultural upheavals in the Mediterranean, emphasizes sharing and tradition. Featuring tenor saxophone, clarinet, English horn, double bass, and percussion, the album combines modal cultures and polyrhythms to create a warm and innovative sound. Robin praises the artistry of his collaborators—Ze Luis Nascimento (percussion), Chris Jennings (double bass), and Renaud-Gabriel Pion (winds)—for their creative synergy and virtuosity, crafting a free and radical musical expression of their shared dreams and struggles.
