Håkon Telin is a renowned double bassist, interpreter of contemporary music and composer who combines his original compositions with folk melodies. He considers folk music an endless source of inspiration and uses it as a basis for his own compositions. In his new album, he presents his favorite arrangements of folk tunes as well as a few of his own compositions. He aims to show how folk melodies can be played on the double bass and how harmonic technique can mimic the sounds of folk music. The album is a continuation and deepening of Thelin's projects previously devoted to folk music for double bass. He uses special effects and harmonic techniques to create a distinctive sound world. Thelin is highly technical and plays the double bass with precision and speed. The album contains music from different traditions, performed by different musicians. It is part of a series of albums exploring Norwegian folk music.
