Group improvisation is a conversation connected to the moment, surroundings, and personal expression. On the album Sound Flower, three masters of improvised music from different generations perform together as a trio for the first time, creating an engaging sound world. You can hear each performer’s story individually or perceive the music as a whole—two distinct experiences.
Alto saxophonist Jesper Zeuthen is a legend in Danish music who started his solo career only after turning 60. His unique sound was shaped back in the 1970s when he played in groups like Blue Sun and New Jungle Orchestra and collaborated with musicians such as Terry Riley, Don Cherry, and Paul Motian.
Anders (AC) Christensen has released one solo album but has worked with Paul Motian, Tomasz Stanko, and others, including The Raveonettes, Joe Lovano, and Lee Konitz.
Percussionist Marilyn Mazur, known for her distinctive style and performances with Miles Davis and other stars, has explored music for five decades, blending styles and pushing boundaries.
They share intuition and openness to music. Sound Flower is their first collaborative recording, produced by Jakob Bro, who allowed the music to flow naturally.
The recording was made during the completion of the documentary Music For Black Pigeons, where the song "Dug" became the main theme.
