Errol Linton, the Brixton Blues Man, releases his seventh album ‘Break The Seal’. Ten songs, eight originals, recorded in two days in the famous Toe Rag studio in London by Liam Watson.
The Toe Rag sound stands out immediately, it’s deep and warm and suits Errol’s voice and style. He plays blues and reggae that fit together perfectly (listen to Country Girl (City girl)).
According to the Guardian, Linton can be regarded the figurehead for contemporary British blues. He won the UK Blues Challenge in 2023 and represented the UK Blues Federation both at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA, and the European Blues Challenge in Braga, Portugal. He has played on numerous international stages.
The band that plays on this album is not to be ruled out; drummer Kenrick Rowe, double bassist Lance Rose, pianist Pete Zivkovic and guitarist Richie Green.
Listen to the Diddley inspired song Bo Diddit, these guys are on fire!
Errol dedicates this album to his deceased mother Ruby Naomi Linton. It is clear that Errol has his own style and sound, he is an example of how one could take the blues a step further: by studying the masters, mix it with one’s own influences and style and, from that, create something new that is still rooted in the blues tradition.
