The "Italian Concerto" (originally titled "Concerto nach italiaenischen Gusto") BWV 971 is one of the few instrumental concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) without orchestral accompaniment. The influence of Italian masters on Bach is reflected in its style as Bach combines the orchestra’s tutti passages with the solos and weaves them together in counterpoint style that is characteristic for his music.
The highly virtuosic piano piece "Étincelles" (Sparks) Op. 36 No. 6 by Moritz Moszkowski (1854-1925) from the cycle "Huit Morceaux caractéristiques" (Eight characteristic pieces) is also considered to be his best-known work.
Irma Issakadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and comes from one of the most renowned families of musicians of the former Soviet Union. At the age of three she received her first piano lessons from her mother and started composing short piano pieces. At the age of nine, she made her debut with Beethoven's First Piano Concerto with the Georgian State Symphony Orchestra. Her teachers include Vladimir Krainev and Ludwig Hoffmann.
Her CD recordings have been released with Oehms and Naxos and include the recordings of Johann Sebastian Bach's six partitas, as well as the Goldberg Variations, which have been praised as milestone in the history of interpretation by the media.
Further recordings at TYXart are in planning already.
