Red Simpson was a country singer who was best known for his rough-and-tumble songs about truck drivers and their exploits on and off the highways. Cutting his first single in 1966, "Roll Truck Roll," Simpson enjoyed a handful of hits over the next ten years that married the exploits of big-rig operators with lean, swaggering honky tonk music, enlivened by Simpson's flinty, twangy vocal style and sharp guitar work. Capitol Collectors Series compiles 20 of Simpson's best and best-known songs from his long tenure recording for Capitol Records, and captures the truckers icon at his best.
