Tubeway Army is a British rock band formed in 1977 by Gary Newman, who became its frontman and main author. Tubeway Army were one of the first post-punk bands to develop an electronic sound that predetermined the further development of the new wave. Tubeway Army has released two albums, Tubeway Army and Replicas. The single "Are 'Friends' Electric?" also topped the UK chart in 1979. In 1979, Newman disbanded Tubeway Army and began a solo career.
