Bach's violin concertos by Carl Zuske (1934.3.15-), which was recorded on the ETERNA label under the direction of Masur in 1977 and the following year, are reprinted as the world's first SACD. It is a masterpiece that is highly evaluated as one of Zusuke's representative recordings that makes you feel the traditional style of Bach performance that has been cultivated in Leipzig. After joining the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester (LGO) in 1954 at the age of 20, Zusuke became the 2nd concertmaster and then the 1st concertmaster in 1959. He returned and held that position until 2001. Not only as a soloist, including chamber music, but also as a violinist representing the former East Germany, he has left a great influence both at home and abroad. He has continued to be a model for performances of Bach and Beethoven in particular, and since he is familiar with Japan, many people may have seen his performances. It can be said that this recording shows one of the achievements in modern instruments and their playing methods, and the neat yet emotional performance is captivating. The recording is also wonderful, and the effect of the latest high-quality digitization is great, so I think you can feel the beauty even more with SACD.

The 3 pieces of Beethoven in the margin are originally 3 pieces by Zusuke's solo and "Rondo for Piano and Orchestra WoO6" by Peter Loesel on piano, recorded under the baton of Beethoven in 1970 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. This time, only Zusuke's recording was recorded due to the recording time (Zusuke recorded the violin concerto digitally under the direction of Masua in 1987). Here too, Zusuke's violin is natural and beautiful, conveying to the listener the charm of Beethoven based on a solid melody line. In addition, the rare "Violin Concerto (Fragment)" is also recorded at the end (Furthermore, at the end of the piece, Beethoven puts his brush down, where the score is interrupted).
