I needed 20 years to write my first solo record and just 1 to write my 2nd. That's how I see it anyway. After recording Get Ya Wood in 2013 I got knee deep in writing new material. I was hemorraging ideas after leaving Chaton Studios in the fall of 2013 so I knew another record would come quick. I figured the new material would naturally get blue but I also wanted more of a personal angle to the lyrics on this record. That's why I had to make Sweet Lou.
I knew my producer at Chaton, Otto D'Agnolo, would take Sweet Lou and make it exactly as I had imagined when I wrote the songs. We brought in some familiar faces to play on the record and invited some new friends in as well. I like to call them my distinguished guests because without their talents, those tracks would have been left feeling so unfulfilled. Otto's idea to make "I Wish Things Were Still the Same" a duet with Missie Darque-Chaklit Smith was an epiphany that turned that track into one of my favorites on the record. Much thanks to Missie for stopping by.
We left a few songs on the studio floor so ask me what I'm gonna do ? For now I'm just enjoying Sweet Lou. She gave me all I wanted, I hope she finds you too.
