It’s been a long road from playing Carol King and Neil Young songs on guitar at Hooters Mexican restaurant in Coolangatta and being one of the few girls to surf in the Australian titles at Victor Harbour, South Australia in the 70’s.

Suzanne met Tim Gaze when he was commissioned to write for another Australian surf movie (after Morning of the Earth) in which she sang and performed two original songs for the movie “Band On The Run” in which another of her surfing buddies Rabbit (Wayne Bartholomew) starred.

A chance meeting and introduction to blues music occurred when she met Dutch Tilders in Sydney. This meeting destined her to live in Melbourne and tour with Dutch Tilders band as flautist and backing vocalist. During her part time she attained a Bachelor of Education in music including studying jazz piano.

When Dutch’s touring started to thin Suzanne moved on to playing piano bar gigs at 5 star hotels in Melbourne such as The Windsor, Sofitel and Eden on the Park. In 2000 after a partnership of 20 years Dutch and Suzanne parted ways but always remained friends and played the occasional gig together.

In later years she had resident gigs at Mantra Tree Tops Port Douglas. She also held a long standing gig at the Market Street Tavern Nunawading, a restaurant which operated for 30 years supporting live jazz and blues and rock and roll music.

1998 and 2001 Suzanne got awards from Unisong for original compositions while teaching in Victorian schools and playing gigs around town with various jazz musicians.

In 2007 Suzanne released her first full album of original material called Here Is My Song. This album was recorded with Mal Clarke contributing some arrangements and instrumentation and the vocals were recorded by Warwick Thomas Productions. The album had a country flavour attributable to the fact that a lot of it was written in the outback in the company of the great country player and singer Mal Clarke of the Bullamakanka band. The songs catch some of the spirit of Australia.
She is about to release her second album called I Foresaw This Trouble which is a swinging roots, blues and ballads album with a great band.

The new album has 14 original songs including eight blues tracks. All the tracks have a good groove and will appeal to a wide audience as it encompasses some roots, folk, gospel and ballads. All of the players on the album are superb musicians and each of them brings something to the table. Gary Norman Guitar, Mike Mathews Bass and Justin Humphries drums, guest harmonica player Ian Collard, guitar Geoff Achison, drums Gideon Marcus.
