“For what I assume is Pro Organo’s first venture with an English organ virtuoso, I doubt there could have been a more solid choice than David Hill, the noted conductor and organist/choirmaster at Winchester Cathedral. This CD was produced and engineered by Pro Organo’s Frederick Hohman on the occasion of the dedication of a new 3-manual organ from the English firm Harrison & Harrison, at Trinity Episcopal Church in the Treasure Coast city of Vero Beach, Florida in January, 1998.
“The overall aura of this CD is a festive one, a mood one might expect when a new organ is dedicated. There is much repertoire which exploits the variety of colors and combination available on the instrument, and it is all brilliantly played by David Hill with solid technique, a keen ear for registration and a more than adequate common musical sense. But it should be said at the fore that the new organ, which has been finely designed and crafted, has been installed into an acoustical environment which is appears to be far more dry than live. It is for this reason that I must surmize that David Hill arrived at a program which craftily conceals almost every shortcoming owing to lack of room resonance.”
