Ignacy Jan Paderewski is one of the greatest personalities in the world of culture and politics at the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. His multidirectional activity, charismatic personality and masterful piano playing brought him international success and adoration of the audience. He also went down in the history of music as a talented composer. The most numerous group of his works are piano pieces, but Paderewski's songs are also quite popular : they are sophisticated, varied, expressively and texturally rich. He wrote them for the poetry of Adam Mickiewicz and Adam Asnyk (whom he considered the greatest living Polish poet) and for the texts of French Parnassians: Théophile Gautier and Catulle Mendès.
The album contains a complete set of Ignacy Jan Paderewski's songs for voice and piano in the interpretation of Anna Mikołajczyk:Niewiedział and Marcin T. Łukaszewski. The recording was made by Andrzej Brzoska.
