Hartmut Lindemann - The Lindemann Series, Vol. 4 (2021)

Lindemann wanted to do "a nice old-fashioned program", explains Wolfgang Wendel in the foreword (!) Of his booklet text, in order to then briefly meditate on freedom and determination. This CD is indeed old-fashioned and beautiful. Because violist Hartmut Lindemann has put together a very personal program that neither cares about drawers nor "stylistical correctness". Original composition stands peacefully next to arrangement, salon air blows next to noble ambition, and above all there is a wonderful piece: Rebecca Clarke's (1886-1979) wonderful pastel viola sonata from 1919. That alone is worth buying the Tacet CD. Hartmut Lindemann asserts his reputation as an exceptional musician, and in Ben Martin he has a fabulous companion who listens sensitively, plays delicately with colors, and skillfully dynamized it. Also old-fashioned and beautiful: the ruthless emotionality struck with the Lindemann and Martin Hindemiths Sonata der Romantik. Good sound with plastic space.
