Greenslade was originally formed late 1972 by Dave Greenslade and Tony Reeves, who both had played in Colosseum, together with Dave Lawson (keyboards) (ex-Samurai) and Andy McCulloch (drums) (ex-Fields). They made two critically well received albums 'Greenslade' and 'Bedside Manners Are Extra' in 1973. In 1974 the third album 'Spyglass Guest' made the album Top 40 in the UK. Tony Reeves then left the band and was replaced on bass by Martin Briley (who also contributed guitar) for the band's fourth album 'Time And Tide' the following year. The band split in 1975, but after the release of Dave Greenslade's solo album 'Cactus Choir' the band 'reformed' and toured in 1977. This line-up consisted of Dave Greenslade on keyboards, Tony Reeves on bass, Mick Rogers on guitar and Jon Hiseman on drums.
The band started working again in 1999 with a line-up of: Dave Greenslade and John Young on keyboards, with Tony Reeves on bass, and John Trotter on drums. However, by the time of the release of the album 'Large Afternoon', in October 2000, Chris Cozens had taken-over on the drums. John Trotter would return, however, and appears on the live album "Live - 2001 The Full Edition"
