Voted Best Newcomer at the Marlborough Jazz Festival in 2015, British singer songwriter Jeanie Bartons latest release is an innovative electro-orchestral collaboration with double bassist, producer Simon Paterson (Angels in the Architecture). Largely self-penned by Barton (bar her wonderful take on Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewoods The Air That I Breathe), the album was catalysed by her and Patersons partnering on 2017 single Who Wants to Live Forever? Featuring the inimitable Tony Kofi on alto saxophone, that track is on Moments of Clarity, which finds the pair also joined by trumpeter Hugh Pascall (graduate of the Royal Academy and Paris Conservatoire). This is an assured set of experimental new songs exploring themes as diverse as life after death, truth seeking, our connection to the cosmos, parenthood/sleep deprivation, and fidelity.
